1. Make sure the phone screen is clean. Try wiping it down with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth if necessary. Then try again.
2. Try removing the screen protector to see if this makes a difference.
3. Unplug your device if it is plugged in.
4. Restart your device
5. Last resort, downgrade back to iOS 10.3.2. You heard that right. Downgrading is still possible since iOS 11 is still in beta. Folks over at Cydia Geeks have a nice write-up on how to do that.

If you have to restart your device, it is best to attempt a hard reset on your phone and try to download the software again. This can be accomplished by holding down the home button and power button at the same time and then letting go of the power button while holding the home button for five more seconds.

If you do this, make sure you’ve created a recent backup before getting started, or you might lose your data! Your phone will walk you through the steps of resetting your phone, and then it will allow you to attempt to download the software update all over again.

iPhone Still Freezing Up After Update?

There may be an issue with your settings in your phone that’s causing your screen to freeze. Restoring a backup from an older device can be a result of restoring from older data. If you reset the settings on your iPhone, it can fix this issue.

Here’s the rub: I do a lot of cutting, copying and pasting between documents. It’s a laborious process selecting text by pointing and dragging-to-select in iOS 11. Accomplishing the same thing with a mouse on my iMac is soooo much easier; it’s also easier (but less so than using a mouse) doing this with my Mac laptop’s trackpad. 

In addition to dealing with text, there are other reasons to wish for mouse support on an iPad. For example, if you’re using a Smart Keyboard for an extended period, it’s inconvenient to have to keep reaching up to the screen to adjust formatting or move the cursor. 

Apple has repeatedly said that iOS is optimized for touch and macOS is optimized for mousing. However, if iOS offered support for mice, users who don’t want to use a mouse wouldn’t have to; they could continue using the touch screen.

The same reasoning can also be applied to a Mac with a touchscreen. You wouldn’t be forced to use a touch interface; it would simply be an option. Which is why I think macOS and iPad iOS will someday merge into one.

A touchscreen alone is fine on an iPhone screen, but not nearly as great on a 10.5-inch or 12.5-inch iPad screen if you’re want to use one as a MacBook or Macbook Pro replacement.

The iOS 11 beta 4 was released on July 24th and many people have already gone ahead and installed the latest build of iOS. However, some people may be holding out for a more finalized build. Of course, the public release shouldn’t be too far away. We usually see new versions of iOS publicly release around the same time as Apple’s new iPhone which tends to be in September. With at least a month away until the public release of iOS 11, there will likely be a few more beta releases as Apple works out some final bugs.

• Smarter Siri – Siri has a few new tricks up her sleeve in iOS 11. She can now translate phrases, much like what we see in Google Assistant. You can also type to ask Siri a question. Perfect for getting the answer you need in a loud location. As well, users will notice that Siri’s voice has changed a bit. She sound more natural now.
