Since the iPhone 6, all iPhones have had the ability to charge at 2.1 amps (10 watts), yet Apple only includes a 1-amp charger (the one on the left in the above photo is 5 volts 1 amp). The charger supplied with iPads, however, is a 2-amp charger. Using the larger 10W charger supplies twice the amps of the charger that comes with your iPhone. It won't charge your phone twice as fast, but it will charge it significantly faster and is 100% safe as long as you are using an approved charger.

Use Apple’s Lightning to USB Cable or Charger

For the best results, it is advisable to use the Lightning to USB cable and charger that comes with the iPhone or use Apple-certified ones. The wrong cable or chargers can slow down charging speeds.

Fake chargers deliver only half the power in some cases. This means that fake chargers would take twice as much time to fully recharge your iPhone. There are lots of other reasons why you should be wary of these counterfeit chargers.

Don’t use your iPhone while charging

This one goes without saying, but if you use the iPhone while charging then it will consume power and slow down the charging process. Some people recommend putting the device in Airplane mode as it turns off cellular and Wi-Fi radios. It is a good idea in an emergency, but it comes at the cost of not being reachable.

Use an iPad Charger

As explained above, the iPad charger delivers 2.1A (12W), which charges the iPhone a lot faster than its 1A (5W) charger.

I’ve been doing this ever since Apple started shipping a more powerful charger with the iPad and haven’t faced any issue. The iPhone just draws as much power as it can handle from the charger.
